The Ledbury London Review: A Timeless 3 Star Restaurant

Few restaurants in London carry the weight of reputation quite like The Ledbury. Nestled in Notting Hill and led by chef Brett Graham, The Ledbury has long been celebrated as one of the city’s crown jewels of fine dining. After its pandemic-era closure, its return in 2022 was one of the most anticipated reopenings in the culinary world. Since then, it’s reclaimed its spot at the very top, earning three Michelin stars in 2024 and reaffirming its position as one of the UK’s most exceptional restaurants.

The Concept

The Ledbury’s philosophy is rooted in seasonality, precision, and understated creativity. Graham and his team work closely with British farmers, hunters, and foragers to bring game, seafood, and produce to life in ways that highlight both their natural flavor and refined technique. It’s modern European cooking, but with a soulfulness and restraint that avoids theatrics in favor of clarity and depth.

The Menu

The tasting menu is the star here, technically running about 6 - 10 courses (for lunch you can opt for 6 or 8 courses) but with all the little extra bites, it felt like a 15 course meal. The menu is also always changing to follow the seasons. Some highlights from our meal included:

  • Scottish Lobster with pineapple weed, blood peach, madagascan pepper and nori

  • Cornish Bluefin Otoro with datterini tomato, black sesame, damson and Australian black truffle

  • Limousin Veal Sweetbread with sand carrot, vadouvan, sansho pepper and smoked bone marrow

  • Aynhoe Park Fallow Deer with Seville orange, walnut, buckwheat, Japanese rose hip and golden beet roat

Desserts lean elegant and fresh rather than heavy. Our cheesecake and chocolate-based finales were as tasty as they were beautiful. We also opted for cocktails and were delighted at the deep flavor profiles.

The Ambiance & Service

The Ledbury is elegant without being ostentatious. The dining room is softly lit, lined with dark woods and big windows that bring in natural light during the day. A bold chandelier and center-of-the-room display somehow manages to strike just the right tone. There’s no over-the-top theatrics, the setting is serene, letting the food shine.

Service is polished, calm, and seamless. Every dish is presented with just enough explanation, and the pacing of the meal is impeccable. Staff anticipate needs without hovering, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and relaxed.

The Price

Dining at The Ledbury is not inexpensive. The tasting menu costs around £285 per person, with optional wine pairings adding another £150+, though you can also opt for cocktails or by-the-glass options. If you choose to do lunch, you can opt for the £285 6 course tasting or the £270 8 course tasting, which is basically the same as the dinner service. It’s a splurge, but in line with other three-star restaurants in London.

The Verdict: Was It Worth It?

Absolutely. The Ledbury earns its place among London’s finest, not through gimmicks or shock value, but through meticulous execution, ingredient-driven cooking, and a dining experience that feels effortlessly refined. It’s not just a meal, it’s a reminder of what great fine dining can be. It’s timeless, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying.

For those who want a three-star experience in London that prioritizes substance over spectacle, The Ledbury is worth every penny.
