We Bought The Stealth Wealth Zegna Sneaker Every Celebrity Is Wearing… Here’s Our Honest Review
There are certain luxury items that start popping up everywhere once you notice them. On celebrities, in quiet airport lounges, at understated dinners where everyone seems effortlessly polished... The Zegna Triple Stitch Sneaker is one of those pieces. Worn by everyone from Hugh Jackman at a premiere to Nicolas Cage at Cannes to Kieran Culkin also at a premiere, it’s become a quiet status symbol staple: elegant and universally sleek with minimal branding.
We finally took the plunge and bought a pair. Here’s how it went down.
Subpar Boutique Experience
We bought the Triple Stitch at the Zegna boutique in Bal Harbour, expecting the seamless service you assume comes with a four-figure purchase. The size we were looking for happened to be the display shoe, so that’s what we tried on. When we asked for a brand-new pair to purchase, the associate promised to bring out a new pair from the back. But when the time came to check out, they then tried to secretly sell us the display model (the one that’s had who knows how many feet in it) without us noticing. But you know us. Of course, we were able to see through what was happening and we politely called it out.
Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal. But look, if you’re dropping an insane amount of money on a pair of sneakers, you want them pristine, not pre-worn. It felt a very off-brand for such a heritage luxury house.
We passed on the display model and requested a fresh pair to be delivered instead.
Redemption Through Delivery
A few days later, Zegna redeemed themselves with a positive customer service experience on delivery. A dedicated courier hand-delivered the brand-new pair directly to our door. The packaging was immaculate, the presentation intentional, and that’s what you want when you’re investing in something elevated.
Subtle, But Premium Unboxing
The unboxing didn’t reinvent the wheel, but it was clean, elegant, and clearly high-quality. A hand-written card with our name, sleek gift bag, heavy matte box, branded dust bags, and shoes packed with care. The experience was understated luxury, just like the shoes themselves.
The Shoes Themselves
The Triple Stitch Sneakers come in a variety of materials and colors. We went with the deerskin leather as it feels more durable to us than the second skin leather, though we should note that the second skin has undergone more treatment and is softer to the touch. We love the look of the off white with the contrast stitch. These go with almost every outfit, easily dressing up or down, and the contrast adds elevation
The moment you hold them, you know why these shoes are in a different league. You can feel the craftsmanship in every detail. The leather is soft but substantial, the stitch work flawless, and the elastic crossover "laces" are not only aesthetic, they make the shoes surprisingly easy to slip on without losing structure or style. If we’re going designer, it better be high quality, stylish, and comfortable. Luckily these shoes easily hit all three.
And we should note, the shoes are incredibly discreet. We are fans of stealth wealth and decidedly not fans of logos. The triple stitch design is classic Zegna, so if you know, you know. But otherwise, the brand name is only visible in an extremely subtle placement on the tongue of the shoe.
So… How Much Did It Cost?
All in: over $1,000. It’s a serious splurge.
Are They Worth It?
This is where the 95/5 rule comes in: we save on 95% of what we wear by choosing high-quality, affordable basics from brands like Quince, so we can splurge on the 5% of things that really make a difference. The Zegna Triple Stitch Sneaker is obviously in the 5% category. For us, this is the kind of item that’s worth going all in on and we’re confident in how the cost per wear nets out.
That said, only you can decide if that’s true for you. But if you're going to invest, this is a piece that genuinely holds up to the price tag.
